Terms of service

1. What Surveyors.io is

Surveyors.io is an online marketplace: independent licensed land surveyors and related geospatial professionals list themselves, clients post jobs or ask a surveyor for a quote, and the two sides agree the work on the site. We are not a surveying, engineering, or law firm and we do not perform surveys. All surveys and professional services are performed by independent licensed professionals under their own licenses, contracts and insurance. Nothing on this site is legal, engineering or surveying advice.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and confirm it to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may decline, suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or abuse the platform, and we may pause new account onboarding when at capacity.

3. Quotes, hires and contact details

Published price ranges are general estimates. Each quote is a price set by the professional who sends it. When a client hires a professional by accepting a quote, the professional confirms the hire on the site, and the client's and the professional's contact details are then shared with each other. Your contract for surveying work is directly with that professional, not with us, and you pay the professional directly. We do not guarantee any particular professional's availability, pricing, or work product, and we never mark up a professional's quoted price to clients. Until a hire is confirmed, contact details, links and requests to deal outside the site are not allowed in profiles, job posts, quotes or messages.

4. Publication and verification

Profiles, job posts, quotes, messages and reviews are checked automatically before they are published or delivered, for spam, abuse, nonsense and contact details. Content that does not pass is not published, and the author is told why and can change it. Surveyor profiles show the license number the surveyor provides, marked as provided. We do not verify license numbers or insurance, and each profile says so. You remain responsible for your own diligence in engaging a professional, including checking the license on the state licensing board's public lookup. Surveyors who list a profile confirm that they hold the license they entered and are authorized to list the firm.

5. Client obligations

Post only genuine job requests for property you own or are authorized to act on. Provide accurate information; professionals quote from it. Do not use the platform to harvest professionals' contact details or to solicit them for unrelated services.

6. Fees for professionals

Listing is free. A professional's profile, the jobs posted in their service area, quotes and messages cost nothing. Success fee. When a client accepts a professional's quote, the professional owes a success fee of 8% of the accepted quote, at least $15 and at most $250, charged by card. The hire is confirmed and contact details are exchanged when the fee is paid; a saved card is charged automatically for later hires. A hire not confirmed within 72 hours lapses, nothing is owed and the job reopens for the client. A professional may decline a hire before confirming it, and nothing is owed. If the client reports within 14 days of the confirmation that the job did not go ahead, the fee is refunded automatically to the card it was paid with. Taking a job found on Surveyors.io off the site to avoid the fee is a breach of these terms.

Optional plans. Pro and Enterprise plans are optional, billed monthly or yearly in advance, and renew automatically until cancelled; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and the free listing stays. Plans bought earlier, including the retired Basic plan, keep working on the terms that applied when they were bought until they end. Payments are processed by our payment processor; plan billing and cancellation are managed in the secure billing portal from your private manage link. We may adjust fees and plan pricing with at least 30 days' notice.

Plan payments are final. Subscription fees are not refunded, in whole or in part, except after a double charge caused by our billing, a proven unauthorised charge reported within 14 days, or a complete outage of the platform that was reported at the time and that we could not fix. How to raise one of these, what we keep on record and how chargebacks are treated is set out in our refund policy, which is part of these terms. Plans bought before October 14, 2026 stay under the terms that applied when they were bought.

Renewals and failed payments. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. When a new billing period begins, access for that whole period is granted and the payment for it is due. If the charge does not go through, the payment remains due and we retry it. Cancelling after a new period has begun only switches off later renewals; it does not cancel the payment for the period that has already started. Such a renewal charge is not refundable, and your access continues until the end of that paid period. The fee is for access to the service for the period, not for using it, so not having used the service is not a ground for a refund.

7. Acceptable use

No scraping, no automated account creation, no misrepresenting credentials, no submitting false reviews, no using the platform for unlawful purposes. We may remove content and terminate access for violations.

8. Intellectual property

The platform, its design, and its content (excluding content you or professionals submit) are ours. You receive a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the platform as intended.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the platform is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of independent professionals, or for indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

10. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict rules. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use after that date is acceptance. Questions: [email protected].
